Opera Adds Bluesky, Slack & Discord to Its Browser Sidebar
Opera has expanded its browser’s functionality by integrating Bluesky, Slack, and Discord into its sidebar. On Tuesday, the Norwegian software company announced that users will now have seamless access to the decentralized social network Bluesky, along with popular communication platforms Slack and Discord. These services will be available alongside existing integrations such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and AI tools like ChatGPT and Opera’s in-house assistant, Aria.

By incorporating Bluesky, Slack, and Discord, Opera aims to enhance user experience, especially for those who frequently engage with these platforms for work or personal use. This update is also designed to streamline browsing by reducing the need for multiple open tabs, offering a more efficient way to stay connected.

According to Opera, the decision to add these services was driven by user feedback. While the inclusion of Slack and Discord aligns with widespread demand for workplace and community communication tools, the addition of Bluesky is particularly noteworthy, as the platform is still relatively new. Competing with established social networks like X and Meta’s Threads, Bluesky has already amassed over 32 million users.

We’re constantly looking at the feedback our users provide underneath our blog posts, on Opera forums, and through social media. Whether you’re working with your team on Slack, chatting with your friends on Discord, or keeping in touch with your community via BlueSky, we want you to be able to do that directly from Opera” said Joanna Czajka, Product Director at Opera.
