Salman Khan Deletes Ceasefire Tweet Amid Backlash
Actor Salman Khan found himself in the middle of a social media firestorm after sharing – and quickly deleting – a tweet praising the India-Pakistan ceasefire announced on May 11. The move sparked controversy, especially from those pointing out his silence on Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack.

What Did Salman’s Deleted Tweet Say?

On Saturday night, Salman posted:

"Thank God for the ceasefire..."

However, within hours, he deleted the tweet after facing backlash from fans and critics who questioned why he hadn’t acknowledged Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

Social media users responded quickly:

  • “No tweets about Operation Sindoor. Why?”

  • “You didn't say anything about India's military action.”

One fan came to Salman’s defense, stating:

“Right after his tweet, Pakistan violated the ceasefire. That’s why he deleted it. What’s his fault?”

Salman Did React to Pahalgam Attack Earlier

Following the tragic Pahalgam incident, Salman had tweeted:

“Kashmir, heaven on planet earth, turning into hell. Innocent people being targeted, my heart goes out to their families. Ek bhi innocent ko marna puri kainath ko marne ke barabar hai.”

(Translation: Killing one innocent person is like killing the entire universe.)

This earlier post was widely shared, but some users noted the contrast between his strong response to the initial attack and his silence on India’s military action that followed.

How Other Celebrities Reacted

Other Bollywood figures such as Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Raveena Tandon responded more directly to the ceasefire news:

  • Kareena posted “Rab Rakha” and “Jai Hind” on Instagram.

  • Karan Johar shared emojis of folded hands and a heart.

The Context: India-Pakistan Tensions

Tensions escalated sharply after the Pahalgam attack, leading to Operation Sindoor, where India launched targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. Days later, both countries agreed to a ceasefire across land, sea, and air – though reports say Pakistan violated the ceasefire shortly after.

While Salman Khan has since remained silent, the episode underscores the scrutiny celebrities face when speaking – or not speaking – on politically sensitive matters.
